McLaughlin Nets a Career-High Three Goals to Lead the Women's Soccer Team to an 11-0 Win Over Wheelock College

MILTON, Mass. – Junior forward Brittney McLaughlin (Wilmington, Mass.) tallied a career-high three goals, to lead the Curry College women's soccer team over visiting Wheelock College, 11-0.  The Colonels improve to 5-3-1 on the season, while the Wildcats fell to 1-8.
 
Curry owned a commanding 39-11 shot advantage and scored the first eight goals of the contest in the opening frame.  The Colonels would tack on three more in final 45 minutes of play for the 11-0 victory.
 
Curry's first eight goals came off of six different players.  McLaughlin netted the first two of her three on the night back-to-back.  Junior Alayna Coakley (Grafton, Mass.) scored the Colonels third goal off an assist by sophomore Deanna McMahon (Hanover, Mass.).  Coakley was next credited with the assist on McLaughlin’s third and final goal.  Two of the last four tallies of the half came from sophomores Danielle Kent (Pocassett, Mass.).  Freshman Taylor Evans (Middleton, Mass.) and sophomore Marissa Tennant (Thompson, Conn.) each contributed to the scoring.  Freshman Kiley Farrell (Rockland, Mass.) and sophomores Caterina Wilson (No. Grosvenordale, Conn.) and Emily Wilder (Stoughton, Mass.) each had an assist. 

Wheelock managed to get five shots, three on net and one corner kick.  Curry had 22 shots, 15 on net and three corners.

The Colonels came out strong to start the second stint while registering three more.   Freshman Felicia Vieira (Bristol, R.I.) netted the first at the 30:47 minute mark on an unassisted goal.  Tennant assisted on Curry’s final two scores of the night on Wilder and Wilson’s tallies. 

Senior goaltender Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, Mass.) earned her third shutout of the season making three stops in 59:01 minutes of play for the win.  Sophomore Christine Hillier (Westborough, Mass.) saw her first time in net also making three saves in 31:01 minutes.  Junior Alyssa Collier (Trappe, Pa) turned away 15 shots on net in the loss.

The Colonels will travel to take on CCC opponent Salve Regina University on Saturday, September 29 for a 12:00 p.m. game start.  The Wildcats will travel to Daniel Webster College on Saturday in a 3:00 p.m. game time.
