Women’s Lacrosse Sails Past Mass. Maritime

BOURNE, Mass. - Curry College defeated Mass. Maritime 8-5 in a non-conference collegiate women's lacrosse game Friday night at Clean Harbors Stadium.

With the win, the Colonels improved to an overall record of 2-5 on the season.

After going down 1-0 to start the contest, the Colonels scored twice in the opening quarter, with an unassisted goal by Grayson Goolgasian halfway through the first. Goolgasian assisted Grace Grosso with just under two minutes left in the quarter to put Curry on top 2-1 heading into the second.

The Colonels kept the pressure on in the next quarter, outscoring Mass. Maritime 3-1. Grosso scored her second goal, assisted by Ava Doyle, in the first minute of the second. Doyle scored herself near the end of the quarter and Goolgasian connected with Nicole Michael to close out scoring and end the half with Curry up 5-2.

Samantha Sprissler joined the list of goal scorers early in the third, assisted by Michael. Goolgasian and Michael both scored their second goal later in the half, ending the game with an 8-5 Curry victory.

Vivi Helquist earned the win in net for the Colonels, making nine saves throughout the game.

Curry College returns to action on Monday, March 24th, with a road matchup against Lasell beginning at 6 p.m.
