MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's lacrosse team defeated Nichols College, 10-6 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Field. With the win the Colonels improve to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCC. The Bison drop to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Curry was first to get on the board first just 35 seconds into the opening stanza off a goal by freshman Allie Wysocki (South Hadley, Mass.). Wysocki was assisted by classmate Taylor Gallagher (Rockland, Mass.).  The teams went just about 19 minutes before another goal was scored. The Colonels finally struck at 15:51 to take a 2-0 lead after freshman Katie Parker (Branford, Conn.) sent Gallgaher a pass right in front of the crease for the tally.  Nichols answered back less than a minute later off an unassisted net by junior Kirsten Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.), her first of two on the day.  Curry regained their lead with their last tally of the half.  Wysocki was netted her second off an assist from sophomore Lee Stevens (Kingston, Mass.).  The Bison scored the final two goals before intermission to head into halftime with an even score of 3-3.  Sullivan converted on a free position shot and with two minutes showing on the clock, senior Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) found an open senior Mellissa LaFleur    (Chicopee, Mass.) in the 8-meter who fired the ball into the back of the cage.  

The squads exchanged goals in first seven minutes of the second period.  The Colonels netted the first at the 28:28 minute mark by Parker with a helper from Stevens.  Nichol's tallied back-to-back scores both on free position shots to take their first and only lead of the contest at 5-4.  Sophomore Danielle Kozloski (Pepperell, Mass.) answered back just over a minute after Parker's.  Freshman McKenna Gernander (Newington, Conn.) earned the go-ahead before Curry went on a 6-0 run.  The Colonel's run came only 15 seconds after Gernanders score.  Wysocki won the ensuing draw control and had a face break to net before dishing the ball off to sophomore Abby Dubel (Wolfeboro, N.H.) who fired it in over the head of the Bison's sophomore goalie Emily Eagan (Hingham, Mass.).  Curry controlled the next 13 minutes with wins on the draw circle, strong defensive play and solid goaltending by freshman Amy Collard (Lakeville, Mass.).  Parker gave the Colonels the lead back at 22:15 off another Stevens assist.  Dubel went on a three-goal scoring frenzy in a span of just two minutes.  Dubel was successful on the draw circle and after the win ran the ball straight to net.  Her first of the three goals came off a free position.  Her second was unassisted and third to give her team four goal advantage was assisted by Parker.  Curry's game-winning tally came with 10:15 minutes remaining in regulation.  Parker earned her third assist on the day after helping Wysocki score her first career hat-trick.  Nichols netted the last score with 1:15 on the clock.  Sophomore Lindsey Gerzabek (Branford, Conn.) helped on senior Rachel Birmingham's (Naples, Fla.) lone goal of the game.

Parker led all players with five points on two goals and three assists. Wysocki finished with four points on three tallies and a helper while also winning three draw controls. Dubel also finished with four points on four goals and led her team with five draw control wins.

Sullivan led Nichols with two points on two goals.  LaFleur won a game-high six draw controls.

Collard picked up the win in the cage for Curry with 15 saves.  Eagan made an impressive 26 stops in net in the loss.

Curry will next play on Thursday as they host non-conference opponent Regis College at 6:30 p.m.
