2018 Women's Lacrosse Season Outlook

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's lacrosse team enters the 2018 season coming off a 2017 campaign which saw them finish with a 7-10 overall record with a 2-6 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The squad will look to improve upon their finish last season as they have a solid core of returners with a blend of talented newcomers to the program.

Players To Watch On Your Team

Bianca Simeone (Cranston, R.I.) – Senior Team captain, great team leadership skills, great work ethic, love for the sport, passion for playing and supportive of her teammates.  Off the field she is Bianca is the athletic department's "Campus Team IMPACT Ambassador", Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative and also the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) SAAC Secretary.  Dean's list student majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology.

Abby Dubel (Wolfeboro, N.H.)  – Sophomore midfielder.  Finished her rookie season with 30 points, played and started in all 17 games played, had 56 ground balls and 37 caused turnovers, was named once as the CCC 'Rookie of the Week" and ECAC Northeast 'Rookie of the Week." Dean's list student majoring in nursing.

Kayla Merritt (Attleboro, Mass.) – Sophomore Midfielder, started and played in all 17 games, finished rookie season with 25 draw controls, 14 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers, seven points. Dean's list student majoring in Nursing.

Harper Meakin (Marblehead, Mass.) – Junior defender, started and played in 16 of 17 total games, finished season with 24 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.

Abigail Roy (Nashua, N.H.) – Sophomore midfielder, started and played in 16 of 17 total games, finished season with 34 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers.  She is a 4.0 student majoring in Education.

Top Returning Players

Other returners to watch are juniors Jessica Giamattei (Branford, Conn.) and Angela Johns (Burrillville, R.I.) and sophomore Courtney Lima (New Bedford, Mass.).

Top Newcomers

One of the biggest freshmen classes including three transfers. All will see playing time.

Amy Collard (Lakeville, Mass.) – Freshman goalie, will be starting goalkeeper. Nursing Major.

Allie Wysocki (Agawam, Mass.) – Freshman defender.

Colleen Donnelly (Atkinson, N.H.) – Freshman defender.

Katie Tarr (Atkinson, N.H.) – Freshman midfielder.

Lily Ashford (Atkinson, N.H.) – Freshman midfielder. Transferred from Merrimack.

Katie Parker (Branford, Conn.) – Freshman attacker.

Leona Stevens (Kingston, Mass.) – Sophomore attacker. Transfer from Post University.

The 2018 Lady Colonels kick off the season Saturday, March 3 at Framingham State at noon.
