MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's lacrosse team fell to the University of New England 14-10 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Tuesday night at the Walter M. Katz Field. The loss drops the Colonels to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in the CCC. The Nor'easters improve to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Curry jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game.  Senior Abby Carnevale (Beverly, Mass.) netted her first of three on the day off a feed from classmate Lauren Carroll (Providence, R.I.) with only 31 seconds ticked off the clock.  Senior Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) put the Colonels up by two a minute later on a free position goal.  UNE responded with five tallies over a twelve minute span to take over the lead.  The Nor'easters got three scores from sophomore Nichole Carvalho (South Kingstown, R.I.) and one each from senior Jocelyn Davee (Freeport, Maine) and sophomore Korinne Bohunsky (Eliot, Maine).  The first two tallies were on a man-up advantage after the Colonels were assessed back-to-back yellow cards.  All five were assisted goals with three credited to senior Brooke Kelleher (Exeter, N.H.) while senior Kimberly Gosselin (Concord, N.H.) and freshman Anna Stowell (Sutton, N.H.) chipped in one.  Senior Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) ended the spree when she fired in a free position goal with ten minutes left in the half.  UNE's defense was solid as they held the hosts scoreless for the remainder of the stanza.  Bohunsky helped Stowell put the visitors up by four to head into intermission with a 7-3 score in favor on the Nor'easters.

Curry was first to strike in the second when freshman Abby Dubel (Wolfeboro, N.H.) caused a turnover in the Colonels defensive end and carried the ball down the field before firing it into the back of the net.  UNE answered back with two off the sticks of Gosselin and Carvalho with Bohunsky earning her second helper of the game.  Carnevale countered for the Colonels before the Nor'easters would go on another five goal run.  The run gave UNE their biggest lead of the game with a score of 13-5 with a little over 16 minutes to play.  Davee netted two while Bohunsky, Carvalho and Stowell each got one.  Kelleher and Gosselin each dished out two assists. Curry controlled the remainder of the game as they outscored UNE 5-1 but it wasn't enough as the Nor'easters were able to capture the 14-10 victory.  The Colonels got scores from Dubel, Carnevale, Knowlton, Carroll and senior Rachael Lawrence.  UNE's final tally came from freshman Megan O'Grady (Georgetown, Mass.) with the helper credited to Gosselin.

Carnevale led the Colonels with three goals.  She also grabbed five ground balls, caused three turnovers and won one draw control.  Knowlton had two goals along with two ground balls and four caused turnovers.  Dubel finished with two tallies and had a game-high seven ground balls and also caused four turnovers.  Parker led all players with eight draw controls.
