MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Framingham State, 11-10 this afternoon in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field. With the win, the Colonels improve to 7-7 on the year, while the Rams are now 6-5 on the season.

The Colonels grabbed the early lead after senior Abby Carnevale (Beverly, Mass.) assisted senior Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) just under eight minutes into the game, but the Rams rattled off three straight goals over the next five minutes including two from freshman Grace Gamache as the Rams led 3-1. 

Curry answered with a run of their own tallying four straight to take a 5-3 lead with just under 11 minutes remaining in the opening stanza. Senior Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) recorded a goal and two assists on the spurt for the hosts.  Parker assisted freshman Courtney Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) and Knowlton while Knowlton assisted Carnevale.

The Rams received goals from freshmen Nicole Pacheco and Audrey Duhaime to tie the game at 5-5 with seven minutes remaining, but Parker tallied her second on the day with three minutes left in the half giving the hosts a 6-5 lead at the break.

The Rams opened the second half with a 3-0 run to take an 8-6 lead.  Gamache found the back of the net unassisted twice, and Pacheco connected off a feed from junior Kimmy Foley.

The two teams traded goals with 13 minutes remaining giving the Rams a 9-7 lead, but three straight by the Colonels including one apiece for Knowlton and Parker and senior Lauren Carroll (Providence, R.I.) put the Colonels back on to 10-9 with 11:36 on the clock.

Gamache converted off a feed from senior Lindsay Nixon with just under 11 remaining in the game to tie the game at 10-10, but freshman Abigail Guilfoil (Nashua, N.H.) tallied what would prove to be the game winner with just over seven remaining on the clock.

Solid play by the Colonels defense and senior goaltender Rachel Smith (Arlington, Mass.) held the Rams scoreless for the remainder of the game. 

Curry held a slim 29-28 edge in shots for the game. 

Smith earned the victory for the Colonels making nine stops. Sophomore Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath took the loss in the net for the Rams despite making 12 saves. 

Curry will next travel to Endicott College on Wednesday, April 19 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game at 4:00 p.m. The Rams are back in action on Friday night when they travel to MASCAC rival Fitchburg State for a 7:00 p.m. game.
