Women's Lacrosse Edges Nichols 14-11 to Earn First Conference Win of the Season

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's lacrosse team fell to Curry College 14-11 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Sunday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

Senior captain Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) potted a game-high five goals and assisted on another while sophomore Kirsten Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) and junior Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) each had hat tricks to lead the Bison.

The Colonels saw a five-point game (4-1-5) from senior Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) while seeing three goals apiece from seniors Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) and Lauren Carroll (Providence, R.I.).

The Bison opened up the first half with three unanswered goals before seeing the Colonels score nine of the final 12 goals in the half to lead 9-5 at the break.

Nichols then scored four of the first five goals of the second half to cut the deficit to just 10-9. A pair of goals from Parker and goals from senior Abby Carnevale (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Kayla Merritt (Attleboro, Mass.) helped put the Bison away.


Freshman Emily Eagan (Hingham, Mass.) took the loss after registering 13 saves while the win went to senior Rachel Smith (Arlington, Mass.) who stopped four shots.

All-Time Series

The Bison have now dropped the last two games in the series with the Colonels and Curry now leads the all-time series at 14-4.
