Brickey Named as CCC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College senior defender Mel Brickey (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week.  Brickey had an impressive week as the Colonels went 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference action. She recorded nine draw controls, seven groundballs, and caused three turnovers in a 20-3 conference victory at Wentworth. The defender also netted six goals and dished two assists in the 17-goal win. In a tough 18-11 loss to conference foe Roger Williams, Brickey scooped up seven groundballs, earned five draws, caused three turnovers, and earned two assists. In non-conference action, the senior tallied 26 draw controls, ten caused turnovers, and six groundballs to go along with 17 points (8 G, 9 A), as Curry defeated Wheelock 22-7 and Norwich 16-3.
