Women's Lacrosse Extends Win Streak to Three With a 20-3 Win Over CCC Rival Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Mel Brickey (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored six goals, assisted on two others, won nine draw controls, and caused three turnovers to help the Curry women's lacrosse team pick up its third straight win with a 20-3 win over Wentworth in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest played at Sweeney Field.

With the win the Colonels improve to 7-5 overall and evens its league record to 2-2 while the Leopards fall to 3-7 (0-5).

The Colonels scored the game's first four goals in a span of 2:47 as senior Haley Carey (New Milford, Conn.) had Curry's first two markers. Wentworth got on the board when junior Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) scored with 19:04 left before the Colonels scored three in a span of 2:47 to make it a 7-1 contest.

After sophomore Pam Mudge (Hooksett, N.H.) scored with 9:25 left in the half, Curry held the Leopards scoreless for the next 27:14 and scored 11 goals during that span. Brickey tallied three times and added an assists while freshman Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) added a pair. Carey dished out four assists during the run.

Freshman Molly Dufresne's (Plaistow, N.H.) goal with 12:11 left ended the run before Brickey and sophomore Emma Bolton (Mahwah, N.J.) scored to round out the scoring.

Carey finished with three goals and five assists, Knowlton had three goals and an assist, freshman Alli Schoff (Berwick, Maine) had two goals and two assists, senior Deanna Monfredo (West Islip, N.Y.) had two goals and three assists, and freshman Rachel Lawrence (Hanover, Mass.) had two goals. Senior Kaitlin Cloutier (Montpelier, Vt.) picked up 13 ground balls.

Junior Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.) made seven saves over the first 38:01 before giving way to sophomore Kelton Vuilleumier (Duxbury, Mass.) didn't need to make a save over the final 21:59.

Houghton, Dufresne, and Mudge scored the Leopards' three goals. Junior Alexandrea Banks (Ellington, Conn.) picked up six ground balls and caused four turnovers. Junior Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.) made 21 saves.
