WENHAM, Mass.—Gordon Women's Lacrosse ended on the right side of a seesaw battle with visiting Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Tuesday evening. Anna Blomberg (Simsbury, Conn.) and Bailey Grinnell (South Hamilton, Mass.) both recorded hat-tricks to pace the Gordon attack to its sixth consecutive victory.

Blomberg started the scoring quickly with a crisp play less than a minute into the first half. The senior attacker took a swift pass from classmate Rebecca Smith (Verona, N.J.) and found the twine for a 1-0 lead.

Curry's Emma Bolton (Mahwah, N.J.) won the draw control on the following faceoff and sprinted all the way down the field to even the score at one. Blomberg answered back with her second goal of the early going, but once again Bolton evened the score in the Colonels' next possession to tie the game at two.

The Colonels took their first lead of the game midway through the first half on back-to-back goals from Deanna Monfredo (West Islip, N.Y.) and Alli Schoff (Berwick, Maine) for a 4-3 advantage. However, Gordon scored three of the final four goals of the half to pull back ahead with another 30 minutes to play.

Gordon capped off a four-goal run, which spanned across both halves, with two goals from Stephanie Fitzgerald (Groveland, Mass.) and a score from Kelly Linehan (White Plains, N.Y.) to open a 9-5 lead. Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) and leading scorer Haley Carey (New Milford, Conn.) brought the deficit back down to two with only 15 minutes remaining.

Abby Illian (Hillsdale, N.J.) and Grinnell reset Gordon's lead to four goals, 11-7, but the Colonels mounted a furious rally led by Carey. The senior attacker scored two quick goals with plenty of time remaining on the clock. Schoff added her third goal of the day with 3:20 remaining to bring the Colonels within a single score, but the Scots were able to run out the clock at the very end.

Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.) made nine saves for Curry and reigning conference Defensive Player of the Week, Danielle Maguire (Braintree, Mass.), notched 14 stops in the win.

Gordon returns to non-conference action on Thursday with a nightcap against NEWMAC foe Wheaton College. Curry plays host to Salve Regina in a makeup game from last week, on the same day. ​(Game Recap Courtesy of Gordon Sports Information)
