Brickey Named as CCC Defensive Player of the Week

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College senior defender Mel Brickey (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row.  Brickey continued her solid play defensively for the Colonels, as they went 1-1 on the week. In two games, Brickey caused 16 turnovers, won 22 draws, and scooped up 10 ground balls. In a 19-4 win over Mount Ida, the senior recorded 11 draw controls, 11 caused turnovers, and three ground balls. In the 15-goal win, the senior also recorded three assists and two goals. In a tough 17-16 triple-overtime loss to 2013 NCAA participant Lasell, Brickey earned 11 draws, five caused turnovers, and seven groundballs, while adding two goals.
