Women's Basketball Falls to Salve Regina 56-48 in CCC Action

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior guard Meaghan Harden (Sandwich, Mass.) scored 10 of her game-high 16 points in the second half as the Seahawks pulled away from Curry College for a 56-48 victory at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Harden opened the third quarter with her only 3-pointer of the game.

1 – Salve Regina senior Meaghan Harden (Sandwich, Mass.) - scored a game-high 16 points and contributed six rebounds and six assists.

2 – Salve Regina freshman Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.) - finished with 12 points, including seven of eight free throws to ice the game near the end.

3 – Curry senior Kerry White (Windham, N.H.) - grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and added eight points .

Salve Regina's field goal shooting accuracy increased by 14 percent after halftime (27.0 percent! i n first half; 41.7 percent in second) including better efficiency from behind the arc (two of 12 in first half; two of five in second).

Turning Point

Harden's 3-pointer at the start of the third quarter started a 7-0 run for the Seahawks. The first half featured three ties and three lead changes, but Harden's 3-pointer gave the Seahawks the lead for good.
