Women's Basketball Tripped Up 62-46 by Trinity in Curry Tip-Off Tourney Championship Game

MILTON, Mass.­­ - Trinity College captured the title in the 2015 Curry College Women's Basketball Tip-Off Tournament, knocking off the host Colonels, 62-46. Earlier in the day, Southern Vermont College defeated Wellesley College, 78-62, in the consolation game.

TRINITY 62, CURRY 46

The Bantams were led by senior Mackenzie Griffin (Stamford, Conn.) with game highs in points (19) and total rebounds (15). She was followed by classmate Melanie Mills (Woodstock, Conn.) who recorded 8 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.

The Colonels were led by freshman Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) with 14 points while adding eight rebounds and five assists. Senior Shannon Griffith (West Hartford, Conn.) was right behind with 11 points while pulling down a team high 11 rebounds and added a game high in blocks (4).

SOUTHERN VERMONT 78, WELLESLEY 62

The Mountaineers were led by senior Amber Flagg (Windsor, Conn.) with 23 total points, shooting 7-18 from the field. She also recorded seven total rebounds. Junior Amber Dow (Vergennes,Vt.) was right behind with 18 points while adding a pair of rebounds. Senior classmates Kala MacKenzie (Fair Haven, Vt.) and Turquoia Johnson (Rockville, Md.) led the game with nine total rebounds.

The Blues were led by senior Chelsi Scott (Portland, Mich.) with 16 points shooting 6-9 from the field adding six total rebounds and six steals. Behind her was junior Ailis Hanley (Cranston, R.I.) who recorded 14 points and tied a game best nine total rebounds for Wellesley.
