Women's Basketball Knocked Off 69-57 at Framingham State in Non-Conference Action

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team used a 27 point showing by sophomore Raegan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.) to shoot them past Curry College by a score of 69-57 in non-conference action Wednesday evening in Framingham. With the win the Rams improve to 2-1 and the Colonels slip to 1-2.

Mulherin scored a game-high 27, collected six boards and three steals. Junior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored 13 points with seven boards, four steals and three blocks.

Kerry White (Windham, N.H.) scored a team-high 14 points and collected nine boards while Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) tallied 12 with five boards and four steals.

The two teams played a back and forth first half. A Mulherin jumper in the final minute of the second quarter gave the Rams a 28-23 they took into the half. The hosts came out of the break on fire scoring the first nine points of the third quarter capped off by a Rackliffe layup to put the Rams up 41-28.

The Colonels clawed their way back in cutting the lead to 45-42 on an Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, Mass.) trey. After a few back and forth possessions the Rams broke off a 21-7 run that lasted nearly eight minutes. Curry found themselves down 66-49 with just over five minutes to play. Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) hit a jumper with just over two minutes to play to cut the lead to nine, but that is as close as the visitors would come.

The Rams shot 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the field but only 25 percent (5-of-20) from downtown. Curry shot 26.7 percent from the floor (20-of-58) and converted 53.3 percent from long range (8-of-15). The visitors committed 33 turnovers to the hosts 24.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, November 21st when they travel to UMass.- Boston for non-conference action with a 1:00 p.m. tip. Curry will host Southern Vt. on the same day with tip-off slated for 3:00 p.m. (Recap courtesy of FSU Sports Information)
