Women's Basketball Comes Up Short in Championship Game of Curry Tip-Off Tournament, Losing to St. Joseph's, 57-42

MILTON, Mass.­­ - On the second day of the Curry College Women's Basketball Tip-Off Tournament, the host Colonels were topped by St. Joseph's College in the Championship Game, 57-42, while MIT outlasted Southern Vermont in the Consolation Game, 86-70.

The Monks were led by junior Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) with a 12-point, 14-rebound double-double outing, while freshman Emily Quirion (Augusta, Maine) recorded a game-high 13 points. Sophomore Emily Kehoe (Perkinsville, Vt.) chipped in with seven points and seven steals.

Freshman Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) also had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, Conn.) added 10 points, while senior Samantha Corcoran (Hampton, N.H.) pulled down nine rebounds and dished out a team-best five assists.

MIT 86, SOUTHERN VERMONT 70
Engineers' juniors Sabrina Drammis (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and Maya Ramachandran (Fremont, Calif.) both recorded double-doubles. Drammis poured in a team-high 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds, while Ramachandran scored 24 points and pulled down a team-best 16 boards. Senior Mari Kordell (Ijamsville, Md.) chipped in with 19 points.

The Mountaineers were paced by junior Amber Flagg (Windsor, Conn.) with a game-high 30 points. Classmate Turquoia Johnson (Montgomery Village, Md.) had a double-double with a 10-point, 16-rebound effort. Junior Sarah McDonald (Cohoes, N.Y.) and freshman Danielle Simmons (Rensselaer, N.Y.) scored 13 points apiece.
Named to the All-Tournament Team were: Emily Kehoe (St. Joseph's), Sarah Assante (St. Joseph's), Alyssa Keeney (Curry), Maya Ramachandran (MIT), Amber Flagg (Southern Vermont).
