FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Senior Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) and junior Katelyn Iafolla (Franklin, Mass.) combined to score 30 points as the Framingham State University women's basketball team defeated Curry, 78-49, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening at Framingham's Athletic Center. With the win, the Rams head into the Thanksgiving break with a 4-2 record while the Colonels even out at 2-2 on the season.

Hoffman led all student-athletes with 16 points as Iafolla scored 14 and junior Samantha Irvine (Franklin, Mass.) narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Hoffman and Iafolla also collected five steals apiece as Irvine blocked a pair of shots and junior Nicole Bostic (Eastton, Mass.) dished out a game-best six assists.

Junior Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) paced the Curry offense with 15 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Sophomore Shannon Griffith (West Hartford, Conn.) had a team-high seven rebounds and blocked three shots as junior Christina Deiorio (Stoughton, Mass.) chipped in with three assists and senior Ashley Assarian (Chicopee, Mass.) amassed four steals.

The Colonels held a 4-3 advantage following a layup by Griffith just 1:23 into the game. Irvine then hit a 3-pointer to spark a 7-0 run as the Rams took a six-point lead with 14:22 left in the first. A three-point play by Beltz capped a 9-3 run to tie the game at 13-all midway through the frame. The Colonels kept the game close over the next few minutes until an Iafolla layup with 7:48 showing on the scoreboard ignited a 20-5 outburst as the Rams went into the locker room with a 43-25 lead.

Framingham State jumped out to a 52-25 margin early in the second half. Beltz bookended an 8-0 run that brought the Colonels within 19 points following her triple with 14:19 left in the frame. The Rams then outscored the guests 26-16 en route to the 78-49 final.

For the game, Framingham State had the upper hand in points off the bench (34-9), points off turnovers (17-10) and second chance points (12-7).

Both squads continue their non-conference schedules early next week as the Rams entertain Rivier at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Curry hosts Suffolk on Monday at 7 p.m. (Recap courtesy of FSU Sports Information)
