MILTON, Mass. – Despite a game-high 22 points from sophomore Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.), Curry College came up short against visiting Roger Williams, 55-44, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s basketball action Thursday night in Milton. The Hawks improve to 14-6 overall and 10-3 in CCC play, while the Colonels fall to 9-11 overall and 5-8 in conference action.
 
Roger Williams senior Elizabeth Kilzi (Waverly, Pa.) sank a three-pointer to put the first points on the board at the 18:24 mark. The Hawks maintained the lead until Curry sophomore Jeanette Fallon (Nashua, N.H.) converted a jumper to give the Colonels their only lead of the game (20-19) with 5:28 remaining in the first half.
 
Kilzi hit two more treys over the remainder of the half, but Curry managed to answer with four more points to keep the deficit at one (27-26) heading into intermission. Roger Williams slowly pulled away, building an eight-point lead (45-37) after senior Alexandria Lanieri (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) hit a jump shot with 6:10 left in regulation.
 
The Colonels scored the next seven points to cut the lead to three (45-42) with 4:39 on the clock, including a pair of made free throws by Beltz and a three-pointer by junior Ashley Assarian (Chicopee, Mass.). The Hawks went on to outscore Curry 10-2 over the remainder of the game, accounting for the 55-44 final.
 
Freshman Angelica Ariola led Roger Williams with 17 points and six assists. Kilzi added 14 points, including 4 of 6 from deep. Lanieri chipped in with 11 points. Junior Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, Conn.) pulled down eight rebounds.
 
Beltz led all scorers with 22 points. Fallon contributed 10 points, while pulling down seven boards. Sophomore Samantha Corcoran (Hampton, N.H.) recorded eight rebounds.
 
Both teams return to CCC action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., as the Colonels visit Salve Regina, while the Hawks host the University of New England.
