Women's Basketball Notches 62-32 Win Over Visiting Coast Guard
MILTON, Mass. – Sophomore forward Hailey Rafferty poured in a game-high 20 points, leading unbeaten Curry past visiting Coast Guard, 62-32, in women’s basketball action Thursday night in Milton. The Colonels improved to 6-0 on the season while the Bears dropped to 2-4.

The hosts ran out to a 15-point lead to open the game and never trailed. The 19-4 run began with a layup by Rafferty (Worcester, MA) and was finished off with a layup by senior forward Danyel Cousins (Brunswick, ME). The Colonels took a 36-12 lead at the break, shooting 54.2% (13-for-24) from the field, while holding the Bears to just 7.7% (2-for-26).

After the break, Curry took its biggest lead of the game (60-27) on a three-pointer by freshman guard Ashley Assarian (Chicopee, MA). The visitors improved their shooting percentage to 32.0% (8-for-25) in the second half but could not chip away at the double-digit deficit.

The Colonels’ scoring leaders were Rafferty, followed by sophomore forward Julia Scrubb (Stowe, VT) with 13 points and Cousins with 11. Cousins led Curry on the glass with eight boards.

Freshman forward Larla Brown (Kingwood, TX) led Coast Guard with a team-high nine points, while senior forward Allison Majcher (Littleton, CO) had a team-best eight rebounds.

The Colonels resume play on December 6, hosting Fisher College in a 7:00 p.m. contest. The Bears travel to Wheaton College on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game.
