Weckworth – the all-time winningest coach in Curry softball history – will embarks on his 26th season at the helm of the Curry softball program in 2021.

In the COVID-19 pandemic-shortened 2020 season, the Colonels went 2-8, with all 10 games coming on their spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla. Over the course of the limited year, the team ranked in the top three in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) in games played (T-#1, 10), runs scored (#3, 33), hits (#3, 64), home runs (T-#3, 1), RBI (#3, 29), walks (#2, 22), stolen bases (#1, 8), sacrifice flies (#1, 4), sacrifice hits (T-#1, 9), and pitching strikeouts (#3, 25).

He now owns an outstanding 25-year record of 516-436-5 (.542). 

In 2019, his team finished with a 12-23 overall record with a 2-14 mark in the CCC. Two of his student-athletes earned All-Conference recognition in freshman Liana Duarte (Taunton, Mass.) and Lexi Buckner (Foxborough, Mass.). Duarte was honored as a first-team selection, while Buckner landed on the third-team.

His 2018 squad finished the year with a 14-21 overall record, including a 7-11 mark in the CCC. The Lady Colonels earned the number six seed for the conference tournament and hosted a play-in game for the postseason tournament. With the doubleheader sweep of Wentworth on April 21, Weckworth achieved his 500th career head coaching victory. Four of his student-athletes earned All-Conference recognition.  

In 2017, his Colonels posted a record of 16-23 overall and 7-11 in CCC play. The squad qualified for the CCC Tournament and defeated Nichols College by a final of 2-0 in the play-in game. Curry had three student-athletes selected to all-conference teams. Junior Kevi Oatway garnered second-team honors while junior Mikayla Lambert and senior Mikayla Korona earned third-team honors.

Weckworth guided his 2015 Colonels to the #4 seed in the CCC Tournament.

While his squads have averaged better than 25 victories per season during the past decade, Weckworth - currently the Colonels’ longest-serving head coach - has led Curry to three 30-win campaigns (2004, 2005, 2007) in the past 12 years. In 2007, the Colonels posted a 30-16 record overall and a 17-5 mark in CCC play. Curry advanced to the CCC semi-finals but fell just shy of a conference title.

The 2006 team had a 26-20 record overall and a 15-7 mark in CCC play. Curry once again advanced to the CCC finals but came up short with a heartbreaking loss in the final inning of the championship game.

The 2005 team had a 33-11 record overall and a 16-6 mark in CCC play. Curry advanced deep into the conference tournament before falling in the semi-final round. Still, the Colonels were selected as the #1 seed in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament. Weckworth's team hosted eighth-seeded Western Connecticut in a first-round game, but came up on the short end of a 3-0 score.

Weckworth guided his 2004 squad to a 36-win campaign, establishing a school record for victories in a season. Curry advanced to the CCC finals against Endicott, but fell just shy of a conference title after a gut-wrenching 1-0 loss in 10 innings. Still, Weckworth's squad was selected to play in the ECAC Division III Tournament and finished as the 10th-ranked team in the final 2004 NEISCA poll. For the third time since 1996, Weckworth was named as the CCC "Coach of the Year."

In Weckworth’s inaugural season, the Colonels finished 27-7, setting a record, at that time, for the most wins in a season by any athletic team in school history. A year later, he led his squad to 23 victories and the program's first-ever CCC championship, and received his first of three “Coach of the Year” honors. In 1998, the Colonels captured another crown as the #3 seed in the conference tournament. In 1999, Weckworth took his squad to a fourth-consecutive championship game, and was honored once again as “Coach of the Year.”

The 1982, the Curry graduate began his softball coaching career at Mt. Ida College with a four-year stint as an assistant, before returning to his alma mater in the same capacity in 1994.

After a 21-year career in Curry’s Admissions Office, Weckworth joined the Athletics Department full-time in 2003 as Student-Athlete Recruitment and Welfare Coordinator. He now assists all Colonels' head coaches with recruiting and focuses on the retention of current student-athletes.
