Forte, Colleran Tabbed as 2019 Softball Captains

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Softball Team has announced its captains for the 2019 season. Senior outfielder Talia Forte (North Scituate, R.I.) and junior catcher Michaela Colleran (East Bridgewater, Mass.) were chosen by their teammates and coaches to lead the 2019 Colonels during the upcoming season. This will be the first season as a team captain for both players.

Forte had a solid junior year for the Colonels. She played in 32 regular season games, batted .226 and led the team with outfield assists. Forte was the everyday centerfielder for the Colonels in the 2018 campaign. In her Curry career so far, Forte has played in 87 games, has scored 30 runs and has a .927 fielding percentage. Her academic record speaks for itself, as Forte has a cumulative GPA of 3.23 in the nursing major and has earned 93 credits in her first three years at the college. She was recently named to the ECAC Academic Honor Roll and was chosen as the team's Most Improved Player for the 2018 season. 

Colleran had a solid sophomore campaign as well. She played in 22 games, she batted .266 and compiled a .969 fielding percentage. In her two years of Curry Softball, Colleran has played in 60 games, has 51 hits and has an overall batting average of .295. Colleran also has a solid academic record with a cumulative GPA of 3.35 in the Community Health & Wellness major and has earned 62 credits in her first two years at the college. She also was recently named to the ECAC Academic Honor Roll and was named to the CCC Academic All-Conference Team. Colleran was also chosen as the team's Paula Martin Memorial Award winner, recognizing her "Hard Work and Dedication on the Softball Field".
