Softball Edged By Nichols in CCC Tournament Play-In Game

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College softball team saw its season come to an end, falling to seventh-seeded Nichols College on Saturday morning in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament Play-In Game in a 3-1 final.

The Bison got on the scoreboard in the first inning, tallying two runs. Jessica Kuelling (Gales Ferry, Conn.) connected on a pitch for a two-run single to drive in Callie Andrews (Southbridge, Mass.) and Colleen Callahan (Billerica, Mass.).

Nichols tacked on a run in the fourth on an RBI groundout from Callahan, which plated Taylor McIntosh (West Babylon, N.Y.) to put the visitors up 3-0.

The Colonels were able to get one back in the sixth on a double to left from Jordan Perzan (Burlington, Conn.) to score Kevi Oatway (East Hartford, Conn.).

Andrews, Kuelling, and Courtney Manarky (Amston, Conn.) paced the Bison with two hits each.

Oatway went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Curry offensively.

Alexis Ferris (Holyoke, Mass.) registered the win in the circle after tossing a complete game. The sophomore allowed one run on four hits while striking out five and walking three.

Rebecca Black (East Greenwich, R.I.) was credited with the loss, going four innings. She allowed three runs on six hits. Additionally, the senior struck out one.

Nichols advances to the double elimination portion of the tournament. The loss ends the season for Curry.
