Six Colonels Earn All-CCC Softball Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Student-athletes from nine different institutions in the Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the 2015 All-CCC Softball Team. In addition to the all-conference team, winners of five major individual awards and the team sportsmanship award were also selected.

Six Curry student-athletes earned all-conference honors: Freshman designated player Mikayla Lambert (1st Team), senior third baseman Ariel LaRosa (2nd Team), freshman outfielder April Adams (2nd Team), senior pitcher Taylor Ahearn (2nd Team), senior catcher Allie Carver (3rd Team), and sophomore outfielder Kelly Duggan (3rd Team).

Salve Regina junior Genevieve Benoit was named CCC Player of the Year, while Western New England senior Lauren Zambrano captured the CCC Pitcher of the Year award. Salve Regina's Francesca Galeazzi and Nichols' Kendall Meehan, Nichols were selected as CCC Rookies of the Year, while Wentworth's Sam Curran was honored as CCC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. Western New England's Lori Mayhew was honored as CCC Coaches of the Year and Wentworth Institute of Technology was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.
 
Voting for the All-CCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among CCC head softball coaches.
 
Joining Benoit (C), Zambrano (P) and Curran (UT) on the first team were infielders Heather Fecteau (1B, Western New England), Samantha Mulhern (2B, Western New England), Sam DiBella (3B, Endicott) and Nikki Bukovsky (SS, Salve Regina), oufielders Alexis Bukowski (Western New England), Taylor Messier (Roger Williams) and Amanda Vallante (University of New England), Lambert (Curry) and pitcher Courtney Blake (Endicott).
 
Second team honorees include Galeazzi (2B), Meehan (SS), catcher Liz Glavin (Wentworth), infielders Abby Lambert (1B, University of New England) and LaRosa (3B, Curry), outfielders Adams (Curry), Adrienne Chase (University of New England) and Jamie Corda (Endicott), designated player Grace Kucharski (Western New England), pitchers Ahearn (Curry) and Nicole Parry (Salve Regina), and utility player Sydney Helmbrecht (University of New England).
 
Third team honorees are catcher Carver (Curry), infielders Emily Kline (1B, Gordon), Julia McNeill (2B, Endicott), Kelly Murphy (3B, University of New England) and Haley Ledbetter (SS, Roger Williams), outfielders Chelsea Boulrisse (Roger Williams), Duggan (Curry) , Kara Pepper (Gordon) and Vanessa Weymouth (Wentworth), designated player Margaret Martzolf (Endicott), pitchers Heidi Grieger (Western New England) and Meghan Maliga (Roger Williams), and utility player Meredith Moise (Roger Williams).
