MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Softball Program held its 14th Alumni game on Sunday, September 23. There were 16 softball alumni who returned to the diamond ready for action. The alumni squad banged out eight hits, including three by Caitlin Luquet ’12, but the solid pitching trio of Jennifer Lundstrom ’14, Taylor Ahearn ’15 and rookie Melissa Donoghue ’16 kept the rest of their bats in check.
The current team also had eight hits and took advantage of four errors to come away with a 6-2 victory. Megan Flaherty ’14 and Taryn Vigeant ’14 led the offense with two hits apiece. Janelle Mayo ’11 returned to the mound for the alumni and delivered a strong pitching effort. Joneiha Veiga ’12 also played a solid game at shortstop and Colleen Smith ‘06 showed some speed on the basepaths.

It was a reunion of former Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Star players and members of the Curry College Athletic Hall of Fame. Michelle Maiocca Belmonte ’98, Leanne Tarkanian ’00 and Nicole Leckie ’01, along with many other great players, enjoyed the day of softball. It certainly was an exciting game with plenty of laughs as well. A post-game barbeque for over 100 people was held at the field to wrap up the day.
