Weckworth Captures 400th Career Win as Softball Improves to 4-0 in Florida
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Curry College Head Softball Coach Bruce Weckworth notched his 400th career win after the Colonels defeated Wisconsin Lutheran, 10-5, in action at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. Curry went on to defeat Rockford College, 8-6, in the second contest of the day to remain unbeaten at 4-0 to start the 2013 campaign.

In the win against Wisconsin Lutheran, the Colonels overcame a 3-1 deficit by scoring four runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth. Junior Taryn Vigeant went 4-for-4 with three RBI, while senior Mikaela Carney and junior Kaitlyn Maderios collected two hits and three RBI apiece. Sophomore Taylor Ahearn picked up her second win, tossing a complete game while allowing just two earned runs.

In the victory over Rockford, Curry again mounted a comeback after trailing 6-2 entering the bottom of the fourth inning. The Colonels tallied four runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull even at 6-6, then scored the game-winning runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sophomore Abigail Macomber went 2-for-3 while driving in a pair of runs. Junior Megan Flaherty and freshman Amy Nolan each had a pair of hits and an RBI. Junior Jen Lundstrom notched her second victory, going all seven innings without allowing an earned run.
