Men's Tennis Drops League Contest at Endicott, 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team lost an 8-1 conference decision to Endicott College on Tuesday afternoon at the South Campus Courts. The victory pushes the Gulls to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The loss drops the Colonels to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Junior Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) recorded the lone win for Curry at No. 1 singles over sophomore Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) (5-7, 6-1, 10-7).

Endicott swept doubles play to help spearhead a strong afternoon for the home team. Junior Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) and freshman Cooper Walters (Madeira Beach, Fla.) picked up an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while senior Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.) and Rinkert followed with an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Senior Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Collin Dinardo (Westport, Mass.) rounded out the action with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The five remaining singles matches ended in straight sets. Walters topped senior Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) at No. 2 singles (7-5, 6-0), while McCleary earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Toler chalked up a victory at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-0) over freshman Lorenzo Russo (Lynnfield, Mass.). Papadopoulos kept it rolling with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over senior Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) at No. 5 singles. Dinardo rounded out the singles action with a 6-0, 6-2 win over freshman Timothy O'Brien (Attleboro, Mass.) at No. 6.

Curry returns home to host Wentworth on Saturday, April 6 for a start time of noon. Endicott travels to Eastern Nazarene for a non-conference matchup on Thursday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m.
