Men's Tennis Wraps Up Season With Loss To Nichols, 7-2

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team fell to Nichols College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action with a 7-2 final to Nichols College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bison move to 17-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the CCC, while Curry falls to 1-17 and 0-8 in conference matches. Nichols returns to action on Friday afternoon when it hosts Emerson College at 3:30 p.m.

The freshman duo of Baylen Harper and Sean Nutter earned the first point of the day for the Bison, making quick work of junior Daniel Ritucci and sophomore Michael Wales at No. 3 doubles with an 8-1 win. Freshman Bruno Cavalcanti and sophomore Max Karger followed with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over junior Dawson Stento and sophomore Zach Muller.

The Colonels got on the board at No. 1 doubles as sophomore Aidan Roach and junior Richie Hefler defeated juniors Kirill Ivanov and Aidan Stuart, 8-4.

Karger gave the Bison a 3-1 lead in the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Muller at No. 4 singles, while Nutter's 6-0, 6-2 win over Ritucci at No. 5 singles pulled the Bison one point closer to victory. Sophomore Chase Pierce clinched the match for Nichols with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles over Wales.

Ivanov rebounded from his doubles defeat to best Stento at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while Stuart also picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Hefler.

The Colonels earned the final point of the day as Roach rallied to beat Cavalcanti 4-6, 6-0, 10-6.

The loss wraps up the season for Curry.
