Men's Tennis Swept By Endicott, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. – Endicott College won all six singles matches in straight sets while powering to a 9-0 victory over Curry College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's tennis matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Big Nine Tennis Courts.

The Gulls got off to a strong start by taking all three doubles points. The third doubles duo of Ozan Cermik (Cumberland, Maine) and Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lamond, Calif.) didn't lose a game while the teams of Chris Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) and Thomas Brent (Gorham, Maine) and Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) won by 8-5 and 8-2 finals at No. 1 and 2, respectively.

Endicott carried the momentum in singles play as Rinkert, Cermick and Papadopoulos all won by 6-0, 6-0 finals at the bottom three spots. Kirkpatrick, Brent and Book also won in straight sets at the top three spots.

The most competitive singles match of the day came at the number three spot between Book and Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.). After falling in the first set 6-0, Hefler made the second set tighter before falling 6-3.

Curry (1-16, 0-7 CCC) will next play at Nichols College on Tuesday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. Endicott (9-7, 4-3 CCC) returns to action at Salve Regina on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
