Curry Names Cory Tusler as Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the addition of Cory Tusler as the new Head Coach of the men's and women's tennis programs. Tusler brings years of tennis coaching and playing experience to the Colonels.

Tusler is taking over the helm of the Curry tennis program, a women's team that wrapped up the fall with a 2-13 overall record while the men's program is coming off one of their most successful seasons in recent memory, tallying a 7-12 overall record. Tusler will turn to captains Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) for leadership as he embarks on his first season with the men's squad in the coming weeks.  

Tusler comes to Milton having served in many different positions within the tennis coaching profession. Most notably, Tusler served as the Head Coach of the Bentley University men's tennis team from 1991 to 2005. He led the program to the Northeast-10 (NE-10) regular season championship in 1991, 1993, 1995, and the NE-10 Tournament Championship in 1996. Tusler was named the NE-10 Coach of the Year in 1995 and was also a Coach of the Year award recipient again 2007, after he launched Wheelock College's inaugural tennis program and earned his 200th career win as a head coach. Other key stops for Tusler include serving as an assistant coach for the women's tennis team at Harvard University, leading the Crimson to an Ivy League title. Tusler returns to the CCC after a three year stint at Salve Regina as the head coach men's and women's tennis programs.

Tusler also has extensive experience teaching in the at the private club level.  He has helped develop talent at the junior level as many of his players went onto have successful college careers. From 2008-09 Tusler was the host tennis professional to World Team Tennis' Boston Lobsters and taught many high-profile members of the Boston Red Sox at Jason Varitek's annual Putt-Putt for charity event at Ferncroft Country Club.

Tusler completed his undergraduate work at Northern Vermont University and is a 1974 graduate of Kimball Union Academy. In addition to his coaching duties at Curry, Tusler serves as the Head Alpine Ski Coach at Wellesley High School, a position he has held for ten years.

Tusler will make his debut with the Colonels as they head to Orlando, Fla. for five matches beginning on Monday, March 12. Curry opens play against Franciscan University at the USTA National Center at 8:00 a.m.
