Men's Tennis Tripped Up By Endicott, 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team fell to conference opponent Endicott College by an 8-1 final on Friday afternoon at the South Campus Courts. With the win, the Gulls move to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in CCC action. The Colonels slip to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Endicott started the match with a clean sweep of doubles play. The first doubles team of Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.) captured their match over Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.), 8-5. Justin Toler (Concord, Mass.) and Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) took the point at number two doubles, topping Ryan Sullivan (Winnetka, Ill.) and Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.), 8-1. The Gulls completed the sweep when Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) and Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) defeated Zach Muller (Methuen, Mass.) and Ben Higgins (Yarmouth, Maine), 8-0.

The Gulls continued their strong play in the singles portion of the completion, claiming five of the six points. Book defeated Roach at the number one singles spot in two tight sets, falling 7-6 (5), 6-4. Curry captured the number two singles point, thanks to a 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 win for Sullivan over Toler. Eherts won the match on court three for Endicott with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Stento. Thomas Brent (Gorham, Maine) took the match at number four with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hefler. Anthony Rinaldi (Attleboro Hills, Mass.) defeated Muller on court five 6-1, 6-0 while Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) closed the match with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Muller at sixth singles.

Curry will return to the courts Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. home match against Wentworth. Endicott returns to action on Wednesday in a road match at Eastern Nazarene at 3:30 p.m.
