Men's Tennis Downs Suffolk in Non-League Play, 7-2

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team picked up its third victory of the season on Monday afternoon, downing visiting Suffolk University by a 7-2 final at the Big Nine Tennis Courts. The Colonels move to 3-6 overall while the Rams drop to 0-3.

Curry began the match by taking two out of the three doubles matches. The first doubles team of Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) captured their match by a final of 8-3, besting the Suffolk team of Omar Azzaoui (Miami Beach, Fla.) and Francesco Saia (Wakefield, Mass.). The Colonels would go up 2-0 when the second doubles team of Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) and Ryan Sullivan (Winnetka, Ill.) took down Cameron Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and Chris Parnagian (Cranston, R.I.), 8-4. The Rams were able to salvage a point at third doubles as the Suffolk team of Kevin Greenman (Dunellen, N.J.) and Rami Esrawi (Braintree, Mass.) defeated Zach Muller (Methuen, Mass.) and Ben Higgins (Yarmouth, Maine), 8-5.

Curry went on to take five of the six singles matches. Roach defeated Azzaoui in three sets, 6-2,2-6 and 6-1 at the top spot. Sullivan captured a three setter of his own, downing Saia by a 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 tally. Stento won his match at the third singles spot, taking down Roach, 6-3, 7-6. Hefler secured a three straight set win over Parnagian 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 at number four singles. Muller bested Duggan in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 at number five while Greenman took down Higgins by identical scores of 6-3, 6-3 at number six singles.

Curry returns to the court on Tuesday for a 3:30 start against Salem State at the Northeast Tennis Center in Middleton, Mass. Suffolk will next play Tuesday at home against Bridgewater State at 7:00 p.m.
