Collins Named to All-CCC Men's Tennis Honorable Mention Team in Singles
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - All nine member institutions in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) had student-athletes represented on the 2013 All-CCC Men’s Tennis Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. In addition to the all-conference team, four major award winners and the team sportsmanship award winner were also selected.

Curry College senior Tyler Collins (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) was named to the All-CCC Honorable Mention team in singles.

Roger Williams sophomore Zack Bussiere was selected as the CCC Player of the Year, Gordon freshman Zach Hall was tabbed as the CCC Rookie of the Year, Eastern Nazarene’s Austin Steelman was honored as the CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Roger Williams’ Neil Caniga was dubbed CCC Coach of the Year and Gordon College was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Voting for the All-CCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among CCC men’s tennis coaches.

Joining Bussiere, Hall, and Steelman on the first team for singles were Justin DeLuca (Nichols ), Juan Rodriguez (Wentworth), and Brandon Roode (Nichols).

Two first team singles players were also named to the first team in doubles. First team doubles honorees include Nichols’ DeLuca and David Drucker, Kevin Erikson and Jason Pacino from Roger Williams and the Wentworth’s Dave Filar and Rodriguez.

Second-team singles selections include Drucker, Chris Holzinger (Western New England), Eduardo Irizarry (Nichols), Aaron Isch (Salve Regina), Olivier Joggi (Endicott), and Sam McKay-Corkum (Eastern Nazarene).

Second-team doubles honorees include Eastern Nazarene’s Steelman and Nick Thompson, Endicott’s Joggi and Jake Cohen and Nichols’ Roode and Irizarry.

Eleven players were voted as singles honorable mention selections including Cohen, Collins, Carlos De La Cruz (Nichols), Erikson, Timothy Forance (Endicott), Kenny Gaudio (Gordon), Eric Laboissonniere (Roger Williams), Tim Luz (Eastern Nazarene), Evan Ross (Eastern Nazarene), Alex Sause (Western New England), and Taylor Webster (Roger Williams).

Six double teams also earned honorable mention including Eastern Nazarene’s Luz and McKay-Corkum, Gordon’s Gaudio and Hall, Roger Williams’ duo’s of Bussiere and Laboissonniere, and Jonah Schwartz and Ryan Swanson, Salve Regina’s Colin Gunning and Isch, and Western New England’s Holzinger and Peter LeFrancois.
