Men's Tennis Season Ends with 9-0 Loss at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. — The Fighting Scots captured straight-set wins in each match but one of today's Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup with the visiting Colonels of Curry College, sweeping their guests 9-0 to improve to 6-13 overall, 2-6 in conference on the year.
 
The Colonels round out their season's campaign at 4-12 overall, 0-8 in the CCC.
 
Gordon started the day with purpose as Zach Hall (Fr./Sugarland, Texas) and Kenny Gaudio (Jr./Miller Place, N.Y.) teamed up at No. 1 for an 8-4 win over Curry's Tyler Collins (Sr./Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Charlie Paltsios (Fr./Westford, Mass.), Brandon Inkles (Sr./New York, N.Y.) and Richie Armand (Fr./Hempstead, N.Y.) captured an identical score at No. 2 over Toma Blatchford (Fr./Westmount, Quebec) and Rob Knight (Fr./Port Jervis, N.Y.), and Joe Daugherty (Fr./Norfolk, Va.) and Mike Olszak  (So./Danvers, Mass.) recorded an 8-6 decision over Joe Berger (So./Middleboro, Mass.) and Lucas Donoway (Sr./Foxboro, Mass.) at No. 3 to send the Scots into singles play with a healthy 3-0 lead.
 
From there the Scots continued to command the day, with Hall cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top flight over Blatchford and Armand and Daugherty each taking 6-0, 6-2 victories over Berger and Ben Katz (Fr./Harrison, N.Y.) at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. The remaining matches proved more heavily contested by the Colonels but in the end went Gordon's way, as Gaudio dueled Collins to a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2, Inkles battled Paltsios at No. 3 to a 7-5 opening set win before cruising in the second, 6-1, and Jordan Frank (Sr./Burlington, Mass.) posted the only three-set match of the day at No. 6 with a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) result over Jon Schutzman (So./Bellmore, N.Y.) to secure the sweep.
