Men's Tennis Cruises Past Visiting Lesley, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College defeated visiting Lesley University in a non-conference men’s tennis match Monday afternoon in Milton. The Colonels improved to 4-9 on the season while the Lynx fell to 6-5.

Curry took care of business in all three doubles matches. The pair of Tyler Collins and Charlie Paltsios defeated Nick Mattox and Mike Kaufman, 8-0, at #1. Toma Blatchford and Rob Knight handled Alex Zhitnik and Thomas Tedesco, 8-3, at #2. Finally, the duo of Eric Hellberg and Joe Berger cruised past Roman Pham and Jordan Santos, 8-2, at #3.

The Colonels were equally efficient in all six singles matches, winning five in straight sets. Blatchford downed Mattox, 6-3, 6-4, at #1; Collins swept past Zhitnik, 6-0, 6-1, at #2; Paltsios took care of Tedesco, 6-1, 6-1, at #3; Berger knocked off Kaufman, 6-3, 6-3, at #4; and Lucas Donaway defeated Pham, 6-0, 6-0, at #5.
 
The closest match of the day came at #6 singles, where Hunter Snyder and Jimmy Paulsen split the first two sets, with Snyder ultimately prevailing, 6-4, 5-7, 10-4.
 
Both teams resume conference play on Tuesday with Curry hosting Nichols at 3:00 p.m. and Lesley traveling to Wheelock for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
