MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team played a tight first half but saw the Engineers of MIT break away in the second, taking the 4-1 victory. With the defeat, the Colonels move to 2-7-0 while a win improves the Engineers' record to 4-0-3, moving their unbeaten streak to seven to open the season.

Neither team was able to put together a significant offensive chance in the early goings of the match, but MIT seemed to break through first in the 34^th minute, just to have a goal waved off due to an Engineer being offside. The visitors kept pressing, however, and broke the tie with a clean score off the boot of Peter Novoa (Omaha, Neb.) with just 22 seconds remaining until the intermission. Hendrik Mayer (Montville, N.J.) and Isaac Perper (Tiburon, Calif.) were credited with assists on the tally.

MIT turned it on in the second stanza, doubling their lead with a 52^nd minute goal from Richter Brzeski (Los Angeles, Calif.), assisted by Novoa. Brzeski scored his second goal of the season and evening just 15 minutes later, benefitting from a helper by Jack Snowden (Lorton, Va.) which found the crossbar. Drake Sahm (Studio City, Calif.) cut into the lead and notched the first Colonel goal of the day in the 69^th minute, but the Engineers brought the deficit back to three just three minutes later as Novoa also recorded his second score of the day, assisted by Rami Bikdash (Oak Ridge, N.C.). The sophomore's goal would stand to be the final marker of the day as the visitors departed with a 4-1 victory.

Brzeski headed the MIT offense with eight shots (five on goal) and two goals while Novoa walks away with five points on five shots (two goals, one assist). Jeremy Cowham (Quincy, Mass., 4-0-3) tallies his fourth victory of the year with a pair of saves while Paul DeMaio (North Andover, Mass., 2-7-0) picked up a season high nine saves.

The Engineers will look to stay unbeaten when they host WPI on Saturday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m. in each team's second NEWMAC contest of the year. The Colonels also return to the pitch on Saturday, as they travel to face Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Roger Williams at 3:00 p.m.
