Men's Soccer Shut Out 1-0 at University of New England in CCC Action

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Colin Madigan (Canton, Conn.) notched the only goal exactly 10 minutes into the match as the University of New England defeated Curry College, 1-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 18) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

From deep on the right sideline, Cody Kennedy (Millbury, Mass.) hurled a throw-in right into the heart of the box, where Lee Esposito (Niskayuna, N.Y.) headed it out of a crowd towards the near post, and Madigan flicked it out of the air before the goalie could grab it.

The win ends a six-game skid for UNE, which now stands at 3-13 overall and 2-5 in conference matches. The Colonels drop to 8-9-1 on the year (2-5 CCC).

Nathan Delesdernier (Niantic, Conn.) turned in four saves to earn the shutout for the Nor'easters.

For Curry, which finished with advantages in shots (14-9) and corner kicks (11-1), Adam Dibrina (Sudbury, Ontario) made two stops.

UNE stays at home to face league-leading Endicott College (5-0-2 CCC) on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Curry is next in action on Saturday, October 21 when they host CCC opponent Western New England in a 5:30 p.m. start.  (Game Recap Courtesy of University of New England Sports Information)
