Men's Soccer Edged in Non-Conference Action 1-0 by Visiting Lesley University

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Men's Soccer Team fell to visiting Lesley University, 1-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at the Walter M. Katz Field. The loss drops the Colonels to 6-5-1 while the Lynx improve to 4-6-1.

Curry battled Lesley to 0-0 first half score.  The Colonels held a 9-3 advantage in shots however they were only able to land just two on net.  Lesley's sophomore keeper David Crutchfield (Shrewsbury, Mass.) made two stops while Curry's sophomore keeper Paul DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) also made two.

The Lynx took control early in the second and netted the lone goal on the night 10 minutes into play.  Lesley was awarded a free-kick outside the 18-yard box after a foul was called on Curry.  Senior Anthony Vitta (Oceanside, N.Y.) took the free-kick and tallied the game-winner as he one-timed the ball past the glove of DeMaio. The Colonels had some good chances to get on the board but solid play in net by Crutchfield held them scoreless.  The Lynx held a slight lead in shots at 7-6.

Curry outshot Lesley 15-10 and also had 11 corner kick opportunities to Lesley's zero.

DeMaio was credited with the loss in goal for the Colonels with four stops.  Crutchfield earned the win for the Lynx including the shutout with five saves.

Curry returns to the field on Friday when they host Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Eastern Nazarene at 6:30 p.m.
