Men's Soccer Selected Seventh in CCC Preseason Coaches' Poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Curry Men's Soccer team has been tabbed to finish seventh in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Coaches' Poll which were revealed on Monday afternoon.

Curry 11th year head coach Peter Mendel and the Colonels have a great group of players who are hungry for and will look to make a strong push for a top spot this season. The squad will lean on a core of five seniors in addition to talented group of newcomers. Seniors Ben Silvia (Dartmouth, Mass.), Eric Miller (Hanover, Mass.) and Giancarlo Orsini (Watertown, Conn.) will captain this year's team. Silvia led the Colonels in goals, assists, points and shots last season. Key returners also include seniors Christian Mancini (Woodbury, Conn.) and David Stapleton (North Easton, Mass.). Curry will look to a six key newcomers to add both an offensive and defensive boost as they look to improve their finish within the conference this season.

Endicott earned 96 points and six of a possible 10 first place votes in this year's preseason coaches' poll to place first. Wentworth, the team the Golden Bears defeated in the CCC Tournament Championship, was selected second in the poll as it collected 90 points and three first place votes. Gordon landed in at number three on this year's poll as it gathered 77 points. Western New England tallied thethe final first place vote in this year's voting and finished fourth with a 70 point total. 

Roger Williams was closed out the top five of the poll with 60 points. Nichols (50 points), Curry (32), Salve Regina (30), the University of New England (26), and Eastern Nazarene (19) round off the bottom five of the poll in that order.

The Colonels open up play on Fri. Sept. 1. when they travel to Emerson for a 5:00 p.m. match.
