Men's Soccer Earns a 1-0 Shut Out Against Visiting Lasell College

MILTON, Mass-The Curry College Men's Soccer team defeated Lasell College, 1-0 on Monday afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Field. With the win the Colonels improve to 4-8-1 overall while the Lasers fall to 1-9 on the season.

The first half was evenly played with Curry holding a slight advantage in shots at 9-6.  The Colonels however were only able to land three on net and the Lansers two.  Lasell's freshman Patrick McAvoy (Stony Point, N.Y.) was in net for the Lasers making the three stops.  Senior Dan Johnson (Easton, Conn.) was the netminder for Curry as he came up with two saves.

The second half was controlled by the Colonels.  They outshot Lasell 9-2 while landing five on goal and netting one.  Johnson had to make just one save to hold the Lasers scoreless for the shutout victory.

With just 7:22 left to play, junior Roy Butlin (Milton, Mass.) sent classmate Ben Silvia (Dartmouth, Mass.) a through pass inside the 18-yard box.  Silvia collected the ball and fired it past the glove McAvoy for the win.

Johnson finished with three saves for Curry while McAvoy recorded eight stops for Lasell.
The Colonels return to the pitch Saturday when they host the University of New England at 11:00 a.m. in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up.  The Lasers head to Emmanuel (Mass.) for a 7:00 p.m. GNAC conference contest.
