Men's Soccer Shut Out by Visiting Framingham State, 1-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team lost to visiting Framingham State University, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon, . With the loss, the Colonels record drops to 2-3-1 overall. With the win the Rams improve to 2-3 on the season.

Framingham was on the attack for most of the first half, outshooting the Colonels 10-5. At the 8:32 minute mark the Rams took a 1-0 lead. Senior Simon Appiah (Worcester, Mass.) one-timed the ball from inside the 18-yard box off an assist from sophomore Ken Stahovish (Springfield, Mass.).   Framingham kept the one goal lead heading into the second half.  The Rams senior goalkeeper Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) only had to make one save.  The Colonels senior goalkeeper Dan Johnson (Easton, Conn.) made two stops in net.

Curry had the momentum in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net.  They lead in shots 11-6.  Five of those shots landed on net but Arno came up big earning the shutout.  Framingham got five of six shots on net but Johnson played strong between the pipes holding them to just the lone goal.  That lone goal however was enough to get the win for the Rams. 

Curry had three corners while Framingham had four.

Johnson made five saves in net. Arno made six stops in goal for the win.

The Colonels return to action on Saturday, September 17 when they travel to Endicott College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference match at 7:00 p.m.  The Rams will return to action on Saturday, September 17 when they host MASCAC opponent Fitchburg State. Kick-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
