Men's Soccer Claims #6 Seed in CCC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Nichols College has claimed the top seed for the 2014 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Saturday afternoon.


The Bison (11-2-4 overall) earned the top seed in the conference tournament after posting a 6-1-2 record in CCC play.  Nichols will host #8 seed University of New England (9-6-2, 3-5-1) in a quarterfinal contest Saturday at 1:30 p.m. 

Other quarterfinal matchups scheduled for Saturday include #2 seed Gordon College (13-4-1, 6-1-2) hosting #7 seed Western New England (10-7-3, 3-4-2) at 7:00 p.m.  In addition, #3 seed Roger Williams (10-6-2, 5-3-1) will host #6 seed Curry (10-8-1, 4-5-0) at 11:00 a.m., while #4 seed Endicott (9-6-3, 4-2-3) will host #5 seed Salve Regina (7-9-1, 4-4-1) at 1:30 p.m. 

The quarterfinal matches being hosted by Roger Williams and Endicott will be part of a men's/women's doubleheader being played at each site.

Second-seeded Gordon enters the CCC Championship as the sole CCC squad ranked in the current NCAA Division III New England regional rankings, as the Fighting Scots hold down the ninth spot.

Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Wednesday, November 5 at the sites of the higher seeds.  Kickoff times will be announced.

Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the site of the higher seed at a time to be announced
