Men's Soccer Captures a 2-1 Victory at Conference Rival Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Curry Saturday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Lions sink to 5-8-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the result. The Colonels improve to 8-4-1 on the season and 2-3-0 in league games.

The visitors netted a pair of goals in the first half to carry a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

Curry opened the scoring in the 39th minute as senior Nick Gilman (Longmeadow, Mass.) dribbled into the penalty box before firing a left-footed shot into the cage for his sixth goal of the year.

The Colonels doubled their advantage to 2-0 in the 43rd minute as freshman Giancarlo Orsini (Watertown, Conn.) booted home a rebound to pick up his first tally.

The home team produced six shots in the opening frame while the guests recorded 15.

Eastern Nazarene cut the deficit in half in the 83rd minute on Andrew Nelson's (Burtonsville, Md.) team-leading seventh score of the fall. The rookie launched a long-range shot that soared over the Curry goalkeeper before hitting the underside of the crossbar and landing just inside the goal.

The Lions manufactured 10 shots in the contest and earned five corner kicks. The Colonels finished with 30 total attempts while registering seven corners.

Senior Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) made 10 saves between the posts for the hosts. Sophomore Dan Johnson (Easton, Conn.) stopped five shots in net for the guests.
