Men's Soccer Falls to Western New England, 1-0, in CCC Quarterfinal Game

Springfield, Mass. – Jake Bartnik scored the lone goal of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Match-up that pitted #2 seed in the tournament, Western New England against #7 seed Curry College. Bartnik scored with 42 minutes remaining in the 2nd half. The game ended in a 1-0 win for Western New England. Western New England improves to 13-4-3 on the season while Curry falls to 7-8-4.

                Bartnik received a pass from Ryan Williams after a failed clear by the Curry defense and finished off the play with a shot to the lower left corner of the net.

                Domenick Villano stopped all of the 6 shots that the Curry men's soccer team put on net. They took 13 shots for the game. Villano's counterpart, senior Nick Barber (Pittsfield, Mass.), faced 11 shots on net and stopped 10. Western New England was able to get 21 shots, total for the game.

                Western New England was called offside 6 times in the game compared to Curry only being called twice. Western New England had more fouls in the game with 16 while Curry only had 11. There were 2 yellow cards given in the game, one was given to Western New England's Jake Bartnik and the other was given to Curry's Matt Cotnoir. Cotnoir's came with 8:30 remianing on the clock and Bartnik's came with 2:48 left in the 2nd half.
