Men's Soccer Handed 5-2 Loss at CCC Opponent Endicott College

BEVERLY, Mass.-  On a night which the men's soccer team needed to record its second conference win, freshmen Jordan Daniel (Canton, Conn.) and Alex Tonsberg (Westport, Conn.) rose to the occasion by notching two goals a piece.  The four goals by
the freshman duo helped Endicott secure the 5-2 win and even their CCC record at 2-2-1.

Curry was able to get out to a quick 1-0 lead when Devin Sadlers (Somerset, Mass.) rocketed a shot on goal from 20 yards out on the left win.  Endicott keeper Daniel Higgins (South Kingstown, R.I.) made a quick dive to his left so attempt to deflect the shot but the ball found it's way through to the lower right corner.

The Colonels were able to get some long through balls down field only to have the scoring chances missed on the other end.

In the 20th minute of the contest, Alex Tonsberg was able to take a feed from junior Ryan D'Amico (Marlborough, Conn.) and bury it past Curry keeper Nick Barber (Pittsfield, Mass.).
The goal was Tonsberg's fifth of the season and the assist was D'Amico's second.

The score would remain tied at one as the half came to a close.

Alex Tonsberg continued his hot play as the freshman notched his sixth goal of the season four minutes into the second frame.  Jordan Daniel sprinted 40 yards to chase down the long pass and found Tonsberg.  Tonsberg was able to get one tough and then release a quick shot that he buried to give the home squad the 2-1 lead.  For Daniel, it was his second assist of the season.

Daniel was impressive to watch on the field as he continually pressured the Curry defense and seemingly was able to get by defenders at will.  In the 53rd minute, Daniel was able to
beat the defensive unit and snap a shot on goal that found the back of the net for his eighth of the season and first of the evening.

After his first goal, Daniel continued to pressure the ball with long runs and blazing speed.  In the 60th minute, Daniel was able to corral the ball inside the Curry box and after scuffling back and forth with the defender, blasted a shot that put Endicott up 4-1.  That goal was Daniel's ninth of the season and sixth in his last four matches.

Endicott's James Mercer (South Hadley, Mass.) came on as a sub and buried a shot off of a Connor Gibbs (Westborough, Mass.) assist for his second of the season.  That goal capped the scoring for the Gulls and put the score at 5-1.

Curry was resilient and kept pressuring the Gulls until the final whistle.  Samuel Babchuck (Bridgewater, Mass.) collected a feed from Jonathan Hurley (Foxboro, Mass.) and beat Higgins to make the score 5-2.  That score would hold true to the final whistle.

Endicott now stands in fifth place in the CCC at 7-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the CCC.  Curry drops to 8-5 and 2-3 in the CCC.  Endicott takes on Saint Joseph's in Standish, Maine at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday while Curry hosts Emmanuel on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (Game Recap Courtesy of Endicott Sports Information)
