MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-5 loss to Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at Walter M. Katz Field.

The Seahawks (1-2 overall, 1-1 CCC) picked up their first victory of the season behind a strong performance from senior Pat Leary (Wakefield, Mass.), who had a hand in half of their 12 goals. He finished with game highs of four goals and two assist while senior Brendan Kelly (Long Beach, N.Y.) chipped in three goals and senior Ryan Heeter (Wading River, N.Y.) added one goal and two helpers.

Freshman Jack Dacey (Guilford, Conn.) paced Curry (2-2 overall, 1-1 CCC) with a hat trick while sophomore Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.) and junior Dane Hanson (East Providence, R.I.) rounded out the scoring. The Colonels also got three assists from Andrew DeLeary (Wakefield, Mass.) and one apiece from freshman Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) and Jake Stebbins (Colchester, Vt.).

Heeter fed Leary for the game's first goal nearly six minutes in. Maxwell Van Winkle followed up with an unassisted marker to make it 2-0. The Seahawks closed the quarter with another goal from Leary with the helper going to Heeter with 3:01 remaining in the quarter.

Curry trailed 4-2 heading into the second quarter but closed the gap behind two goals from Dacey. Salve Regina came back with two of their own, one from sophomore Brendan Treacy (Danvers, Mass.) and Kelly. The Colonels pulled back to within two with another Dacey marker, this time coming off an assist from DeLeary to cut the deficit to 5-3 at intermission.

The Seahawks outscored Curry 5-2 in the third quarter and 3-0 in the fourth for the 12-5 final. Hanson and Perfetuo had the goals for the Colonels in the last half of play.

Junior Ryan Chambers (Wakefield, Mass.) was solid in the cage for the Seahawks, making 18 saves against 23 shots.

Curry freshman goalie Evan Falandys (Leominster, Mass.) stopped 11 of 23 shots in defeat.
