White, Gainey, and Urbano Capture NEILA All-Academic Recognition

MILTON, Mass. – Recent Curry College graduates Zach White (Milford, Conn.), Cam Gainey (Truro, Mass.), and MJ Urbano (Wakefield, Mass.) have been named to the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-Academic Team. A total of 90 Division III student-athletes were named to the list.

In order to be eligible for the list, nominees must have senior standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

White played in all 13 games this past season, making 12 starts. He registered six points on three goals and three assists. Additionally, White tallied a team-high 98 ground balls and went 158-for-247 at the face off dot. During four years with the Colonels, White played in 59 games, starting in 47 of them. He scooped up 365 groundballs and had 36 points (22 goals, 14 assists). He won an impressive 521 face offs over his four years donning the purple and white. White was one of four captains on the 2019 squad.

Gainey, a 2019 Third Team All-Conference selection, saw time in all 18 games this season, starting 13 of them. He picked up 21 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers. Over his four-year career, he played in 54 games, making 20 starts. Gainey tallied one goal, 49 ground balls, and had 24 caused turnovers.

Urbano appeared in 16 games for the Colonels this past season. He registered 31 points on 20 goals and 11 assists, 28 ground balls, and nine caused turnovers. Over his four year career, Urbano played in 65 games, making 12 starts. He finished with 136 points on 96 goals and 40 assists. 11 of his goals came on man-up opportunities. Additionally, Urbano recorded 119 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.

Curry finished the season with a 9-9 overall record, along with a 4-4 mark in the CCC. The Colonels qualified for the conference tournament and advanced to the semifinal round.
