Four From Men's Lacrosse Pick Up All-Conference Nods

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has announced its 2019 Men's Lacrosse All-Conference teams and four Curry College student-athletes were recognized. Senior Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.) and junior Jake Stebbins (Colchester, Vt.) were named to the Second Team while junior Andrew DeLeary (Wakefield, Mass.) and senior Cam Gainey (Truro, Mass.) were Third Team selections.

Newell is a repeat selection to the Second Team after posting a team-high 52 points on 35 goals and 17 assists. The senior also scooped up 30 ground balls and caused six turnovers. Seven of his markers came on the man-up advantage. Additionally, Newell netted his 200th career point this season and was named as the CCC Offensive Player of the Week on April 15.

Stebbins is Curry's second student-athlete on the Second Team. He appeared in all 16 regular season contests, making three starts. The junior has registered 30 points on 21 goals and nine assists. He has picked up 32 ground balls and has five caused turnovers.

DeLeary earns All-Conference recognition for the second straight season, landing on the Third Team. The junior saw action in all 16 regular season contests while registering 31 points on 15 goals and 16 helpers. Two goals came on a man-up advantage and one came a man-down. DeLeary recorded 19 ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Gainey rounds out this year's All-Conference nominees after the senior played in all 16 regular season games, starting in 11 of them. He picked up 18 ground balls and recorded 10 caused turnovers.

Newell, Stebbins, DeLeary, Gainey, and Curry (8-8 overall, 4-4) open the CCC Tournament as the number four seed and will host fifth-seeded Nichols College on Saturday, April 26 at noon.
