MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team defeated Gordon College, 17-10 on Saturday afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Field in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play. With the win, the Colonels improve to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the CCC while the loss drops the Fighting Scots to 2-7 overall on the season and 0-5 in the CCC.

Curry were paced by a nine-point effort from junior Kyle Ton (Norwich, Conn.) and was complimented by senior Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.) who netted four goals and added a pair of assists. Junior Andrew DeLeary (Wakefield, Mass.) also scored two goals and pitched in one assist while senior MJ Urbano (Wakefield, Mass.), junior Jake Stebbins (Colchester, Vt.), junior Harrison Fallon (Wrentham, Mass.), and senior Zach White (Milford, Conn.) closed out the scoring with one goal each.

Senior Nick Tozier (Winston Salem, N.C.) led the way for Gordon scoring a trio of goals and adding an assist. Senior Austin Early (Palmyra, Va.) followed closely with three points on two goals and one helper. Five other Fighting Scots also scored once to round out the scoresheet.

Tozier and junior Tyler Pauls (Littleton, Colo.) led Gordon out of the gate, registering goals 1:28 apart from one another. Fallon and White found the back of the net later in the frame on goals separated by just 39 seconds to knot the game at two at the end of the first quarter.

The Colonels broke the game open in the second stanza, outscoring the Fighting Scots 7-2. Ton pulled Curry in front just over a minute and a half in off a helper from Urbano. Sophomore Tytus Moen (Agawam, Mass.) found the back of the net with 12:53 remaining to knot the game at three. That would be the last time the contest would be tied as the Colonels embarked on a 3-0 run on back-to-back goals from Newell and the last one from Ton to double up Gordon, 6-3. Tozier registered his second goal of the contest to halt the run and cut the deficit to two, but another 3-0 run stretched the halftime lead to 9-4 on markers by Newell, Ton, and Stebbins.

The strong play continued for the Colonels coming out of the intermission, scoring the first three goals. DeLeary scored the first one unassisted. Ton picked up the second goal seven seconds later off a set-up pass from Fallon. Urbano finished off the run with a marker coming off a helper from DeLeary. Gordon answered back with two straight, coming from the sticks of junior Dan Arthur (Manorville, N.Y.) and Tozier. Ton capped the period with a goal with 1:56 left coming off a pass from Fallon to give Curry a 13-6 lead going into the final frame.

The Fighting Scots rattled off back-to-back goals separated by five seconds to pull to within five. Ton, sophomore Xander Miller (Shelburne, Vt.) and Newell tallied the game's next three markers. Curry would then outscore Gordon 2-1 over the final 6:39 to walk away with the seven-goal victory.

Senior Josh Teller (Milford, Conn.) recorded the win saving three shots to improve to 2-5. Freshman Bobby Cannan (Bernardsville, N.J.) also saw time in net for the Colonels, making three saves on nine shots against in the final 30 minutes of action.
