Murphy Named Coach of The Year, Six Named To All-CCC Teams

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has announced its 2018 Men's Lacrosse All-Conference teams and six student-athletes were recognized along with Head Coach Tim Murphy as he was named the CCC Coach of the Year.

Junior faceoff man Zach White (Milford, Conn.) was named to the First Team. Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.), Andrew DeLeary (Wakefield, Mass.), MJ Urbano (Wakefield, Mass.) and Chris McGreevy (Rocky Point, N.Y.) picked up Second Team nods while Tom Cashin (Boxford, Mass.) lands on the Third Team.

White played in all 15 regular season games, starting in 13 of them. He was a force at the faceoff X, going 180-for-266. Additionally, he tallied 14 points on eight goals and six assists. White led the Colonels with 134 ground balls.

Newell is named to the Second Team after posting a team-high 56 points on 34 goals and 22 assists. The junior also scooped up 44 ground balls and caused six turnovers.

DeLeary is Curry's second student-athlete on the Second Team. He has appeared in all 15 contests to this point, making four starts. DeLeary has registered 36 points on 22 goals and 14 assists. Additionally, he has picked up 24 ground balls and has seven caused turnovers.

Urbano also places on the Second Team following a regular season where he put up 35 total points (28 goals, 7 assists). He also recorded 22 ground balls and has eight caused turnovers.

McGreevy is the Colonels' final member of the Second Team. The senior defender played has played in all 15 games, tallying two assists. McGreevy was strong on the defensive side of the ball, causing 11 turnovers and scooping up 16 ground balls.

Cashin rounds out Curry's selections as the senior places on the Third Team. He has put up 35 goals and 16 assists for 51 total points, placing him second on the team. Additionally, he scooped up 53 ground balls and caused six turnovers.

Murphy wins his first CCC Coach of the Year honor after leading the Colonels to one of their most successful seasons in program history. They went 5-3 in conference (10-5 overall) and earned the No. 3 seed in the CCC Tournament. Curry averaged 13.20 goals per game to lead the conference, while also leading the league in ground balls. Two of their conference losses were by two goals or fewer and they were the only team other than undefeated Western New England to beat No. 2 seed Endicott.
