Men's Lacrosse Earns Five Seed For Upcoming CCC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott went undefeated in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play this year to earn the top seed in the 2017 CCC Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. This is the fourth time in five years that the Gulls have earned the top spot in the Conference Championship.

Endicott, which went 8-0 in CCC play (8-7 Overall), is seeking its fifth straight trip to the league Championship game and its first conference title since 2015.

Reigning CCC Tournament Champion Western New England will be looking to deny the Gulls that opportunity as the Golden Bears come into the tournament as the No. 2 seed. WNE, which has captured four of the last five tournament crowns, went 7-1 in league play (7-9 Overall).

As the top two seeds, both Endicott and Western New England receive byes into the semifinal round of the tournament. They will wait on the results of the quarterfinal matchups, which are scheduled for Saturday, April 29.

The first quarterfinal features No. 3 seed University of New England hosting No. 6 seed Nichols at noon in Biddeford, Maine. UNE finished the year with a 6-2 CCC (13-4 Overall) record, while the Bison went 3-5 in league play (10-7 Overall). In the second quarterfinal, No. 5 seed Curry visits No. 4 seed Roger Williams with game time set for 4:30 p.m. The Hawks earned the No. 4 seed with a 5-3 conference (9-7 Overall) record, while the Colonels went 3-5 (9-8 Overall).

Curry was awarded the higher seed over Nichols by virtue of the league's tiebreaking procedures. Though both teams had 3-5 conference records, the Colonels got the edge thanks to their 19-10 win over the Bison earlier this month.

The winner of the UNE-Nichols game will visit Western New England in the semifinals, while Endicott will host the winner of Curry and Roger Williams. The semifinal round is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3 and game times will be announced following the conclusion of the quarterfinals.

The two semifinal winners will meet in the CCC Men's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, May 6. The CCC Tournament Champion will receive the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.
