Men's Lacrosse Absorbs 14-8 Loss to Visiting Endicott College in Conference Play

MILTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team defeated Curry College, 14-8, on Wednesday evening at Walter M. Katz Field to remain undefeated (3-0) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.) paced the Gulls with a five-goal performance, and Colin Bannon (Westport, Conn.) contributed a hat-trick and two assists in the win (4-6). Mitchell Tapley (Falmouth, Maine) also added a hat-trick, while Matthew Faucher (Western Springs, Ill.)Peter Field Jr.(Hampstead, N.H.), and Kenneth Speak (Melbourne, Australia) all buried one goal apiece to round out the scoring for Endicott.

Curry received a pair of goals from Joe Shea (Arlington, Mass.) and Joseph Grogan (Sandwich, Mass.) to highlight its offense, while the Colonels also saw four separate student-athletes notch one marker in the scoring column in the loss.

In the first quarter, Endicott rattled off three straight goals to begin the contest as Jennings ripped home back-to-back tallies at 9:37 and 8:57, respectively, before Faucher capped the run with his eighth goal of the season at the 8:22 mark.

Shea responded for the Colonels with his first of two goals at the 5:37 mark to close out the first quarter before Endicott outscored the hosts, 3-2, in the second to take a 6-3 lead headed into the break.

In the second half, the Gulls used a 3-1 third quarter to establish a 9-4 advantage and never looked back. The fourth quarter showcased nine goals (EC 5, CC 4) in total with Tapley and Field Jr. highlighting Endicott offensively with a goal and an assist each during the final 15 minutes of play. 

  • Shane O'Brien (East Falmouth, Mass.) made a game-high 15 saves in the loss (6-3).
  • Steven Grogan (Sandwich, Mass. went 14-for-26 at the face-off X, and also collected game-high ground balls.
  • Ryan Ofgant (Natick, Mass.) caused a game-high three caused turnovers.

Endicott (4-6, 3-0 CCC) hosts Western New England University this Saturday at 3 p.m. Curry (8-3, 0-3 CCC) travels to Wentworth on Saturday at 3 p.m.
